Stratford-upon-Avon, Shakespeare’s birth place and home to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre is half an hour’s drive as is the University city of Oxford with  its beautiful colleges and spires.  The genteel, Georgian town of  Cheltenham, home to National Hunt racing, is only 22 miles west.
